This property was used as a family home and – within the existing roof space – had a two bedroom flat accessible via an external staircase at the rear. The house sits on a large corner plot and was in need of renovation throughout including the landscaping areas.
During the initial feasibility we discussed with our client exactly what they wanted to achieve and the main issues that were involved. As the property was within a conservation area this presented its own problems as there are policies in place guiding owners on what they can and can’t do. The largest design alteration took place at the rear of the property where the existing elevation was large, bulky and poorly designed to gain access to the existing second floor flat. The external staircase was visually abrasive travelling up and over a flat roof and then into a polycarbonate roof shelter. The existing garage also needed attention, as did the whole front and rear garden and a re-hash of the internal layouts was also desired.
As you will see from the images, the proposals were approved by the Local Authority and achieved during the construction stage producing far superior elevations at the rear and front. The existing loft area need to be upgraded and – using our proposed two-storey extension – enlarged to create a luxury family home in a seaside location. The internal finish by the developer was also completed with a high quality spec and the overall standard of the work was fantastic.
